Word Unscrambler
Paste the scramble. Get back every word those letters can spell, from the full-length answer down to the two-letter scraps.
How to use it
- 1 Paste the scramble
Exactly as it appears. Commas, spaces and capitals are all stripped for you.
- 2 Look at the top group first
If the puzzle scrambled a whole word, the answer is in the longest group — usually the only entry in it.
- 3 Use the shorter groups for word games
Games like Wordscapes and Word Cookies want every sub-word too, and those are the groups below.
Two different questions
"Unscramble this" usually means one of two things, and which one you mean changes where you should look in the results.
If you are solving a newspaper scramble or a spelling worksheet, the puzzle took one real word and shuffled it, so the answer uses every letter. That answer is in the top group. Nine times out of ten it is the only word in it, and you are done.
If you are playing a tile or wheel game, you want the sub-words too — every four-, five- and six-letter word those letters can also make. Those are the groups underneath, and they are usually where most of the points are hiding.
When the top group has several answers
Some letter sets genuinely spell more than one word. lspae is lapse, leaps, pales, peals, pleas, salep and sepal — seven of them. When that happens, the puzzle's other constraints decide: a crossword's crossing letters, a worksheet's picture clue, or the category the puzzle set at the top of the page.
