How to use it

Starts with, Ends with, or Contains — whichever matches where the hook is.
- 3 Take the highlighted plays seriously
All seven tiles is a 35-point bonus here, smaller than Scrabble’s but still decisive.
Why this is not just the Scrabble finder
Words With Friends uses its own tile values, and the differences are big enough to reorder your options. The ones that catch people out:
- J is 10 here, 8 in Scrabble.
- X is 8 in both, but V jumps from 4 to 5.
- H drops from 4 to 3, and Y from 4 to 3.
- B, C, M and P all rise from 3 to 4.
- N, L and U rise from 1 to 2 — which quietly raises the floor on almost every word.

The board is different too
Words With Friends does not use the Scrabble board. The premium squares sit in different places, there are more of them near the centre, and the grid is 15 by 15 but not symmetrical in the same way. This tool scores tile values only, so none of that is baked in — but it is worth remembering that a play which looks marginal here can be worth double where you are about to put it.
Using all seven tiles
The bonus is 35 points, not Scrabble's 50. Still large, still usually the right play, but the gap matters: in Scrabble a bingo beats almost any premium-square alternative, while in Words With Friends a well placed five-letter word across two multipliers can genuinely beat one.
