Word Puzzle Kit

Wordfeud Helper

Wordfeud sits between Scrabble and Words With Friends on tile values, so it gets its own scoring rather than an approximation.

Use ? or a space for a blank tile. Up to three.

  • 1 A E I L N O R S T

How to use it

  1. 1
    Enter your rack

Seven tiles, ? for each blank.

  2. 2
    Constrain to the board

Use the starts, ends and contains boxes to match where you can actually play.

  3. 3
    Watch for the highlight

Highlighted words use every tile — that is 40 extra points.

Wordfeud’s own numbers

Wordfeud's English tile values are close to Scrabble's but not identical, and the places they diverge are exactly the letters that decide close games. J is 10 rather than 8. B, C, P and M shift around the 3-to-4 line. U is 2 rather than 1. The full table is under the search box.

The bonus for using all seven tiles is 40 points — between Scrabble's 50 and Words With Friends' 35.

Random boards change the strategy

Wordfeud can generate a random premium-square layout for each game rather than reusing a fixed board. When it does, the openings you have memorised from Scrabble stop applying, and reading the board before committing a good rack matters more than usual. This tool scores tiles only, so it will not know which of its suggestions lands on a triple — that read is yours.

Common questions

Does Wordfeud use the same dictionary as Scrabble?
No, and it varies by the language you have selected in the app. This page searches public-domain ENABLE for English, which overlaps heavily but not perfectly.
What is the bonus for using all seven tiles?
40 points. Scrabble pays 50 and Words With Friends 35, which is why each of those has its own page here.
Can it handle the random board layouts?
It scores tile values, not placement, so a random board changes nothing about the results — but it does change which of them is actually your best move.
